OUR STORY & MISSION:
B.O.L.D. Balanced Outdoor Learning & Discovery Society began as a successful outdoor education program that operated for more than ten years as a local business. Over that time it became a trusted experience for families seeking hands-on learning rooted in nature, creativity, and exploration.
Transitioning to a non for profit organization allows B.O.L.D. to grow in a way that truly belongs to the community. This structure creates opportunities for collaboration, program expansion, and broader access so more children can participate in outdoor learning experiences.
Our mission is to empower children and youth through structured outdoor and nature-based learning experiences that nurture curiosity, foster resilience, and cultivate a lifelong respect for the natural environment, while promoting physical, social, and emotional well-being.
VISION
A community where every child and youth has equitable access to transformative outdoor learning experiences—developing knowledge, confidence, and stewardship—so they can thrive personally and contribute positively to society and the environment.

Land Acknowledgement
I feel privileged to live, work and play on the sacred lands of Treaty 6 Territory, home to the Inuit, First Nations, Homeland of the Métis peoples, and District 8 of the Otipemisiwak Government. As I welcome my community to join me at the BOLD Centre, we celebrate all of the teachings that have been passed down through generations—sacred ceremonies, language, and cultural practices that are integral to the life of this land. We honour the wisdom embedded in these traditions and commit ourselves to learning and carrying them forward.
This land holds the stories of Indigenous history, and we acknowledge its deep connection to both the living and nonliving elements that sustain us. With gratitude, we honour the wind that touches our faces, the pebbles beneath our feet and the scent of fruits, flowers and medicines that fill the air. We respect the presence of all creatures, large and small that inhabit this land.
Treaty 6 Territory is home to the healing waters of Lac St. Anne, which have long been a site of spiritual and physical renewal for many Indigenous communities. We recognize the North Saskatchewan River, which has been a vital pathway for travel, trade, and gathering, and the surrounding land, which continues to provide sustenance for those who harvest and gather here.
We recognize the deep pain and loss experienced by all Indigenous Peoples due to colonization, despite these reprehensible actions, this land has witnessed centuries of triumph and resilience, where the spirits of Indigenous Peoples have endured, thrived and continued to gather, share and teach. We honor the ongoing connection that Indigenous Peoples have to this land, and we recognize the strength, wisdom, and cultural richness they continue to share with all of us.
As we stand together, we acknowledge the importance of TRUTH and the need for RECONCILIATION. May we walk this path in solidarity, with respect for all Indigenous Peoples, and work to preserve and honor them and their ways of knowing, being and doing for generations to come.
